Instant Message Proposal

If you and your fiancée-to-be talk on AIM together a lot, you can propose on AIM (it helps to be in the same room when you do ask)…the best part is that you’ll have the whole thing recorded in your AIM logs.

When my fiancée and I first started going out in college about 4 years ago, we talked on AIM all the time when either of us was in class or even when we were in the same room…we went to RPI, so everyone there is a big nerd with computers and stuff–no one ever picked up a phone except a cell phone.

We had been living together almost since then, and after we graduated we moved in to a big apartment near Pittsburgh–we have a separate room for our computers. All I did was ask her randomly on AIM, “Will you marry me?”…I then turned towards her (her back was towards me) with the ring and waited until she read the IM.

Then she looked at me and saw the ring and smiled, she said yeah and I put it on.  Then she said “Look for the AIM logs!” and quickly turned around and typed yes so she would know how long it took her to decide…my AIM response was “Okay.”  This exchange will be printed and end up in a scrap book for her to remember with.
