Arboretum Proposal
I proposed last June at an arboretum near where I live that’s called “Chanticleer “… it’s a very beautiful place. My fiancée and I were looking for something to do for our 5th year of dating anniversary and a friend suggested going there.
As we were enjoying ourselves and walking around I was scoping out a place to pop the question and I decided upon a bench under a willow tree…the braches encircled the bench and gave us some privacy and near our feet was a little stream. It had rained earlier and the air was still misty enough to see the beams of sunlight coming through the canopy–it was just as fairy tale-ish as it sounds.
I was sitting to her right and I got her to look at a butterfly to the left…while she was turned I slid the ring out of my pocket and dropped to a knee. [As a side note: the night before I put the ring in a zip lock bag and put it in the pants I was planning on wearing. That way there was no box showing and I wouldn’t have to hide it while she was around the following day.]
When she turned back and saw what was happening she started crying and mumbling yes…she came down to my level and hugged me as she continued to sob. Some women were walking along the trail and turned the corner and saw my fiancée crying–they probably though something bad happened because they gave me a dirty look and turned around. After a very long 15 minutes she stopped crying and started smiling.
